Firstly, I would like to say Congratulations to you if you have recently become Engaged!
Planning a wedding can be lots of fun but sometimes stressful. Choosing your Venue will be one of the first things you will do in the planning of your wedding. Once your venue is booked, you will have your date and will be able to move on to the next stage of planning your special day. I hope these tips may help you find the perfect venue.
10 Top Tips for Looking for a Wedding Venue!
1- Time Frame. A lot of people don’t realise wedding venues can book up over a year in advance. I would always recommend looking at different venues around 14 months before you are planning to get married and booking a year in advance.
2- Choosing a Date and Season. What time of year did you want to get married? This can impact a lot on the choice of venue. If you are wanting a summer wedding, will the venue have a beautiful outside setting and is the outside space big enough for your guests. If you are wanting a Autumn/ Winter wedding, will the inside space be big enough for all your guests, as they may be spending more of the day inside.
3- Local or Abroad. Did you want a wedding close to your residence? Or maybe have you wanted a destination wedding abroad.
4- Cost. Work out a budget for your wedding. It is shown that around 20% of a couple’s budget is spent on the venue. Once you know your budget try to sick it as much as possible. You are then able to research the different cost of venue and see what is in your price range.
5- Do you Have a Dream Venue. Most people have an idea of what they like, barn weddings, Hotel venues etc. If you are not sure, search for venues in your local area, or venues aboard to get some ideas.
Research Venues!
6- One or More Venues. If you are Religious, you may want to get married in a place of worship. Then have your reception at another location/venue. If not, you may want to have your ceremony and reception at one location.
7-Reviews – Reviews – Reviews. This is particularly important, read as many reviews as possible to get an idea on the feedback other wedding couple have left. If other couple have had amazing weddings, loved the staff etc then that is a good indication that the venue is one to consider.
8- How Many Guest will be Attending. By knowing this you will be able to make a short list of venues that can hold that number of guests.
9- Visit the Venue and ask Questions. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. You are spending a lot of money and you want to make the best decision. The more cooperative the venue is in answering all the questions, the more likely they are to be helpful in assisting you through the wedding planning.
10- Accessibility- Does the venue have good accessibility for all your guest. Will your older guest be comfortable and be able to move around the venue? Does any of your guest require ramps to be able to move around the venue?
I hope these tips will help you in choosing your perfect wedding venue.
